Well, I Actually Did It.

There comes a point in every questionable life decision when you have to stop saying, “I’m thinking about doing this,” and start saying, “Well crap. I actually did it.”

That point has officially arrived.

Silver Crow Studio is OPEN, and you can find me at 1779 S Broadway Ave. in Boise, Idaho, slinging photographs the wonderfully old-fashioned way: with chemistry, silver, and trust.

The past few months have been a mind-blowing whirlwind!

What started as an idea I couldn’t quite shake turned into researching, building, buying things I never imagined I would own (though I do own some oddities), learning approximately seventeen thousand new things, questioning my life choices at least twice a day, and somehow turning a unique space into an actual tintype studio. Huh.

There have been late nights (past 9pm is late to me; don’t judge). There have been experiments that went beautifully and more experiments that went directly into the “well, we learned something” pile. There are still odds and ends to figure out because apparently opening a studio does not magically make you know everything.

Rude.

But every day, something gets finished. Something gets better. Something clicks into place.

And now there are actual people walking through the door and leaving with handmade tintypes!

That part still feels a little surreal.

I didn’t do the crazy alone…

To everyone who has encouraged me, helped me build things, shared posts, sent messages, told their friends, cheered me on, trusted me with big bright lights, or simply said “you should absolutely do this” when I needed to hear it:

Thank you!!

There is still plenty to learn, plenty to tweak, and probably a few more moments where I stare at something in the studio and wonder why I thought this was a reasonable thing to do!

But the doors are open.

And I’m ready to make some wonderfully weird, old-fashioned photographs with you.

I’m currently booking 4x5 tintype sessions for individuals and cozy duos, with larger sizes coming soon.

If you’d like to come make a little piece of photographic history, you can:

And if you want to hear about holiday specials, upcoming offerings, studio happenings, and other Silver Crow nonsense (about twice a month), join the mailing list.

Come see me. The scary stairs are worth it.
